Love good old fashioned rock and roll? Then come take a ride with The Convertibles. Formed in 1998, these talented musicians attempted to explore the roots music they love. "It may be hard to put one specific handle on our music, so we call it Swingabilly" says singer and rhythm guitarist Paul Barry. "We love all types of roots music and many of these elements find their way into our music. We don't want to get pigeonholed into to one specific category, so we experimented with different styles and textures. We feel this made for a more interesting show for both us and our audience" The four piece group consisted of two guitars, standup bass, and stripped down drum kit (kick and snare). You'll hear elements of rockabilly, swing, and 50's rock in their material. All four members are lead capable vocalists and consequently you'll hear a lot of good old fashioned harmonies in their material. In June of 1999, the group completed their debut CD called "Rockin' and Stompin' " which had been issued as a joint release between Lulu Records and The Rockabilly Hall of Fame. The fourteen Rockin' tracks are a combination of obscure covers and original material. The band is currently not together playing out, but we hope you will take the time to listen to our real audio tracks. If you have any comments or questions we would love to hear from you.
The WWW Rockabilly Hall of Fame is more than just a nostalgic pit stop. You can scroll through over 5,000 original artists, see many of their songs and photos posted. Here you will find current news, tour schedules and concert reviews of the young and old artists that are performing today.
